About Warkah
Warkah shares Markdown documents by link. You decide when the link opens and when it closes. If you have an account, the document stays in your history after that.
Viewing window
Each share can have a start time and an end time. Outside that window the link shows a notice instead of the document. Account holders can change the window at any time, including reopening a share that has ended.
Accounts and guests
- With an account, ended shares stay in your history until you delete them.
- As a guest, you manage a share with its edit code. Ended guest shares are deleted from the server.
Password protection
Password-protected documents are encrypted in your browser before they are sent, using AES-256-GCM with a key derived through PBKDF2-SHA256 at 600,000 iterations. The password never reaches the server, so a lost password cannot be recovered. This also applies to your own history.
Documents without a password are stored as plain text and can be read by whoever runs the server.
Burn after reading
The link closes after one read. Loading the page does not count: a reader must press the button, or enter the right password.
Search engines
Share pages ask search engines not to index them. Still, anyone holding a link can open it during its window.
